My oldest has his heart currently set on becoming a plumber.*Sigh*
He doesn't want to go to a 4 year school after High School. We were viewing some other possible options, like architect or engineering but nope, I couldn't get him to change his mind. It said, either, he had to be good in math and science or had to write reports. He didn't like that.
*sigh*
His favorite part of the job?
The plumbers crack.
I am going to help him out whatever he decides. I can only wish he aims a bit higher. I think computers are more his thing. He is not exactly an active kid. He likes to use my building program on my computer. I hope the Trio program at school knows of something that will help him find a job he will truly enjoy.

Please advise Him that being a plunber means he would have to deal with waste water and human excrement... That may change his mind...

Hey Plumbers can make some good money—especially in urban areas like here in Houston. If your certified (I believe that is a 2 year apprentice program), you can make $25-30 an hour…and double if you work on weekends/holidays—some of the places around here even charge triple. So, don’t knock being a plumber yet…. But, does he realize exactly what they do—clogged toilets filled with you know what & drains that smell like septic tanks, etc…

Well, let him aim higher other than being a plumber. Tell him to be the plumber's boss. What do you think? If you say that you're going to support him, then why not support him in his way? It'll definitely boost his confidence more if he knew that his parents are 100 percent behind him.
He is currently thinking about chemistry or biology instead. Definitely higher. Lol. :)
I think that's very motherly of you, Rachel. There's nothing wrong with being a plumber. There is honor and dignity in the job, and it’s honest money he will be earning off the job. Also, Heather is right, plumbers make a big amount of money. It comes with a lot of dirty work, but it pays. Well, good luck to your son on the path he's chosen, and tell him to enjoy life and be happy. :)
